A Police Officer Comforts A Baby Girl Following A Car Crash That Killed Her Father

Nick Struck, a police officer from Colorado, is receiving praises from all over the world after a photo of an emotional moment between him and a toddler went viral. Struck comforted a baby girl at the scene of a car crash that killed the baby’s father – the police officer can be seen holding her in his arms and singing her a lullaby.

Jessica Matrious – a witness of the horrific accident – captured the heart-warming photo of the Brighton Police Department’s officer and the little girl.

Struck was called to the scene of a single-car rollover crash on Thursday. The police department said that two adults and four children were involved in the accident: a man died at the scene, a woman and a child were airlifted to local hospitals, and the three children were taken to hospitals by ambulances. The authorities said that none of the passengers were “properly restrained”.

The man who died was the toddler’s father.

Struck was one of the first responders at the scene, and he was handed the baby girl to comfort. The police officer took her in his arms and began singing ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’, the lullaby he usually sings to his own 2-year-old daughter.

As soon as the photo of Struck and the little girl spread online, a number of people commented on the Brighton Police Department’s Facebook page and praised him for his compassionate gesture.

The humble police officer said that even though he’s not a medical person, he knows how to give a hug to somebody, and that every one of his colleagues on the scene would have done the same thing.
