Halloween is coming – and it’s going to be a terrifying one.
Last year, a pumpkin painted like the Republican presidential hopeful received international attention. And now that the election is just a few weeks away, Americans are doing their best to create even more elaborate, realistic-looking and scarier Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton-themed pumpkins.
In an effort to make Halloween great again, carvers are combining two of this season’s most recognizable orange symbols: Donald Trump and pumpkins. Their vegetable homages to the Republican nominee have been named ‘Trumpkins’, and are taking over social media:
On the other hand, no particular term has been coined for pumpkins depicting the Democratic nominee. Kelsey Kruzel, from Chicago, produced a Hillary Clinton pumpkin, while her friend made a Trumpkin to go alongside it.
Hugh McMahon has been carving pumpkins since 1976. He says: “I did Trump many years ago for Madison Square Gardens and Hillary when she was First Lady. In fact my pumpkin carving of Bill Clinton was brought to the White House.”
When asked which candidate he preferred to carve, McMahon noted: “I think Trump as he is already orange, making him the better subject to carve.”
