Meet Billy Flynn Gadbois.
The divorced dad’s social media post about why he still helps out his ex-wife has gone viral. Back in October, the 36-year-old took to Facebook to write how he woke up early to buy flowers, cards, and breakfast ingredients so his kids could surprise their mom, his ex-wife, on her birthday.
In the post, Gadbois – from Boston, Massachusetts – explains how it “annoys” him that people constantly ask why he still does things for his former partner. The dad-of-two is reminding other parents that just because you’re divorced, that doesn’t mean you should stop being kind to one another.
Gadbois – who is a lawyer and model – writes: “I’m raising two little men. The example I set for how I treat their mom is going to significantly shape how they see and treat women and affect their perception of relationships. I think even more so in my case because we are divorced. So if you aren’t modeling good relationship behavior for your kids, get your shit together. Rise above it and be an example. This is bigger than you.”
The heartwarming post recently went viral after it was shared by the Love What Matters Facebook page. It currently has more than 725,000 reactions and 23,000 comments.
Gadbois adds: “I’m not saying everyone needs to help the kids make breakfast. But the message people are getting is that you can show each other respect and care in front of the kids, and help the kids care for that parent, regardless of how you feel about each other.”
