Kentucky Fried Chicken is taking its ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ slogan to a whole new level, because the company debuted two edible nail polishes in Hong Kong this week. It has been reported that Ogilvy & Mather – the advertising agency behind the KFC’s campaign – collaborated with McCormick & Company in order to create chicken-flavored nail polish, because why not?
The fast food chain’s polishes are real and edible, and they are based on KFC’s two favorite recipes, Original and Hot & Spicy. Anna Mugglestone, marketing and communications director for Ogilvy & Mather, said: “Yes, it is actually a real thing. I tried it myself in the office when they were doing testing. It tastes like chicken. It’s crazy. I don’t know how they do it.”
KFC is planning to make only one flavor available for sale, and is inviting Hong Kongers to choose between a nude and a trendy burnt orange shade. People can vote for their favorite on the brand’s Facebook page, and Mugglestone confirmed that the edible nail polishes will “go into mass production in the third or fourth quarter of this year”.
And in case you’re not convinced yet, the company has released on online music video around the project, too:
