Because why not?
Earlier this week, a young woman from New York was reminiscing about her childhood, and the time she was completely obsessed with none other than Michael Jordan. Back in 2004, a then-8-year-old Irene Liao walked into a Nike store in Taiwan and spotted a life-size cardboard cutout of the basketball superstar.
She says: “I ended up buying him for around 200nt, which is six U.S. dollars, and dragging him out of the store with me.” The 20-year-old student from Long Island shared the happy memories on Twitter, remembering the good times her and the Michael Jordan cutout had all over Taipei.

Her hilarious post went viral, and a lot of people obviously related to it. The photos have been shared more than 39,000 times and have over 84,000 likes.
Liao says: “I dragged him with me to school every day.” In addition to that, the Jordan cutout watched her at soccer practice, and she even took him to her grandparents’ house “where I insisted I learnt piano so I could write a song to serenade MJ.”
She adds: “By the end of the month, he was a little scuffed and ripped. And my parents were like, ‘OK, this is ridiculous, we are going to throw him out and get you a poster.'” The tiny Michael Jordan fan even went back to the Nike store the following day to see if she could get another cutout, but they only had other players and she wasn’t interested in anyone else.
Liao joined basketball in the fourth grade but things didn’t work out for her. Regardless of that, she has no regrets and adds, “Dude is a basketball god.”
