Maybe he’s born with it. Maybe it’s Maybelline.
Back in October, CoverGirl made history by choosing James Charles to be its first-ever male spokesperson. Now, Maybelline has followed suit by signing on Manny Gutierrez – an insanely popular makeup artist and YouTuber – for its latest campaign.
The social media superstar boasts 3 million followers on Instagram and more than 2 million YouTube subscribers. Gutierrez is famous for his stunning eye makeup looks, so it’s no wonder Maybelline teamed up him and fellow beauty blogger Shayla Mitchell for The Colossal Big Shot mascara ad campaign.
In a statement, Manny said: “I’m thrilled to be able to work with a global brand like Maybelline that is recognizing male influencer talent and is willing to shine a spotlight on it.” The beauty guru also shared a video on Instagram, with the caption: “2017 you are off to an AMAZING START OMG! So excited to finally announce that I am part of the @maybelline #bigshotmascara campaign! Honestly I couldn’t be more honored thrilled! Thank you to Maybelline for taking a chance on me! I look forward to working together so much more 😍😍😍.”
After years of limiting makeup ads to women, brands are finally realizing that anyone on the gender spectrum should be able to celebrate their love for beauty products. In addition to CoverGirl, Milk Makeup and Anastasia Beverly Hills have also been featuring men in campaigns and on social media for a more inclusive approach to beauty.
