Attend any costume party and you are bound to see individuals dressed up as any of the characters from Star Wars. Created by George Lucas, the film series has become a pop culture phenomenon which is set “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away”. The first ever Star Wars film was released in May 25, 1977 which turned Harrison Ford into a Hollywood superstar. This was followed by several more films like The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, The Clone Wars and most recently, The Force Awakens.
When you think about it, there’s supposed to be a generation gap between those who just recently watched the Star Wars films because of the number of years that passed since the first one was released. But with the latest instalment where Daisy Ridley and John Boyega’s characters got introduced, the fans’ thirst for more information about the previous films increased even more.
So in honor of the more than $400 million that all Star Wars films made in the box office worldwide and the pop culture phenomenon that it has become, here are some of the most iconic characters who appeared in the earliest films of the series and let’s take a look at what they’ve been up to for the past few years:
1. Harisson Ford as Han Solo
Playing Han Solo in the 1980 and 2015 Star Wars films has its advantages because Harrison Ford got introduced to an entirely new generation of audiences. Also, only a few actors have the privilege to play more than one iconic role – which he got to do as Han Solo and Indiana Jones. George Lucas immediately had Ford try out for the part of Han Solo and the rest is movie history. With a career spanning six decades, the now-73 year old actor is as active as he’s ever been in the film industry.
