Roses are red, violets are blue, get me some chicken and I’ll love you.
Meet Annika Aguinaldo. The teen from Manila, Philippines, hates flowers, so her boyfriend decided to surprise her with a bouquet of chicken nuggets to celebrate their 1-month anniversary.
The 19-year-old and Rico Villanueva have known each other since they were in elementary school. The young couple started dating after they hung out together at a McDonald’s near their university, sparking a tradition of sharing small fast-food–related acts of kindness.
Aguinaldo says: “I used to joke around that if ever he were to give me a bouquet, I’d like one of chicken nuggets or chicken wings so I could eat it. Much to my surprise, he took it seriously.” Yep. Last week, Villanueva asked his girlfriend to meet him as he had a surprise for her.
When the college student arrived, Villanueva presented her with a beautiful, DIY bouquet of Chicken McNuggets. The duo’s friend Eia captured the precious moment and Aguinaldo shared it on Twitter.

Her post has been retweeted more than 10,000 times and garnered over 40,000 likes since January 22. Regardless of the couple’s new viral fame, they still plan on giving each other “small, silly gifts.”
Aguinaldo adds: “When I posted the tweet, I really didn’t think it would catch the attention of many. What Rico did to me was something so ‘him’ that it didn’t seem out of the ordinary. But I’m happy that other people see something that I’ve known for a long time: That I’m one lucky girl to have a guy like him as my best friend and boyfriend.”
