Meet Kuli, the one-eyed rescue cat who is living the dream out in Hawaii! The adventure-seeking kitten from Honolulu has been riding the waves with his owners Alexandra Gomez and Krista Littleton for over a year now, and is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon!
Kuli – whose name means “to look blind” – was just three months old and weighed only one pound when he was adopted by Gomez and Littleton. The adorable cat had to undergo surgery to remove an infected eye a month later, and his owners gave him frequent baths during the recovery process.
Following his successful recovery, Kuli discovered surfing, and he has been riding the waves since he was six months old! Gomez, 25, and Littleton, 30, first introduced the fearless cat to a longboard, before putting him on a boogie board.
Gomez said: “His first time in the water, we just let him float on the board by himself near the shoreline and I would paddle around with him. Before we knew it we were looking for waves to surf.” And even though the surfing cat doesn’t require a life jacket each time he swims, his owners are still very cautious, and don’t allow Kuli to swim when the conditions are too rough.
